It's going to be a very white Thanksgiving around these parts! We received over 8 inches of snow last night and everything is looking white and lovely.

Speaking of snow...

Snapdragon Inn has paired up with Okemo Mountain Resort to offer some incredible ski and stay packages. It's perfect timing because Okemo opens tomorrow and now they have all this fresh snow to take advantage of right away. If you are looking for the benefits of a larger ski resort but don't want to stay on the mountain one of our packages could be perfect for you!

Halloween & First snow

Earth and Ice

Ocean Wave and Wind

How's your Halloween prep going? Will you be working on some last minute costumes over the weekend? If you are looking for ideas that are fun and not too ambitious, there are heaps of ideas here. These ones above are particularly creative and just involve some makeup and hair pizazz.

Also, Last night at October's Literary club we discussed, "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" by Lisa See. A fascinating and harrowing novel for sure. We will announce the next book on Monday.

Speaking of snow, it just so happens that we also had our first snow fall of the season last night. There are mixed feelings about the early end to Autumn and the beginning of our frigid season but the buzz of Halloween is in the air and we won't let a little cold and snow stop us from celebrating with our little snappers. We thought this picture taken by our friend and local Windsorite, Kerry, was appropriate for the season. A little bit of snow and a little bit of Halloween. She woke up to find her pumpkin wearing a mask she said.

More snow and getting ready for...

The Snapdragon Inn

Our first Bridal show on Sunday. We are looking forward to setting up our table and getting to know some of the other vendors in our area. It looks like the storm has passed and the skies are clear so hopefully we can get out now to pick up odds and ends for the show. 3 storms in the last 10 days. Winter in Vermont.

Happy Weekend!

December Blizzard 2010 Time lapse

The Snapdragon Inn

Time lapse never gets old. It's cool to see the snow fall in action because it really was like there was nothing and then BAM we had drifts of snow!

In other youtube news...
We were floored by the number of views we had of our White Christmas video but this Holiday clip was one of the most viewed the other day with 190,000.

Do have loads of old tapes from Christmas, birthdays, and other celebrations? Maybe it's time to get them all digitized. The boy pictured in the film did just that and gave it to his parents for Christmas this year. Great idea!

Local Christmas tree Farm
Paradise Park: Perfect walk for a wintry day

What did you get up to this weekend? Did you pick out a tree? We have some wonderful places nearby where you can scout for your perfect tree, cut it down, and take it home. This place seems to have a big selection but there are also places here and there as you drive the back roads. Makes for a fabulous activity. While our friends were doing just that on Saturday afternoon across the river in Cornish, we had quite a little snow burst and within 10 minutes the earth was covered in a blanket of white which made the tree hunting that much more exciting. I think the first snow brings a bit of a thrill to everyone, young and old. It really got the holiday season off to a fun start. Of course, it is all gone now, and there is no forecast for anymore this week but it whet the appetite for future sledding, snow shoeing, and skiing!

Snow...

Chris

It's official. Mt. Ascutney got the first snow of the season over the weekend. The weather is cooling right down but it's exciting to pull out the scarves and smell the wood stoves starting to burn. The days are meant to be sunny this week but the evening temperatures are dropping quickly and before you know it, we'll be living in a winter wonderland.
