Snapdragon DIY: fortune eggs for Easter

Here's a fun little DIYer that we worked up for our guests over Easter weekend. We wanted more subtle colors so we sprayed the plastic eggs gold (taping some off for cool patterning). Then we filled them with chocolate and typed up some special wee notes for each. Then we hid them in the guest rooms. Egg hunts shouldn't just be for kids! We are already thinking on how to expand for next year.

We had an extra romantic weekend at the Inn; One of our couples get engaged! We helped get the champagne, strawberries, and roses ready for the big ask and she said, "YES!"

We also put together special Valentines for our weekend couples. There is nothing quite like a little handmade Valentine and some chocolate of course!

Happy Valentine's day!

What are you doing NYE?

The Snapdragon Inn

We are big fans of She&Him and have a bit of a crush on everything Zooey so this little video makes us smile as we come out of the post-Christmas funk and get ready to cut a rug at the New Year's Eve Party tomorrow night. (It has had 1.8 million views in 2 days and we were feeling pretty awesome about our 1,400 from our video

What songs really get you moving? What songs can't keep you off the dance floor? What songs get your jazz hands out? Let us know!

There are still some tickets left for the party tomorrow night. Reserve yours today! Go here more details.

Nothing quite like Christmas in Vermont

The Snapdragon Inn

We nearly have all the holiday decorating completed at the Inn. We still have to get the lights on the fence but we are glad to have everything up and ready for December. Walking to the front door, through the fresh pine garland into the warm cinnamon scented entry is like walking into pure Christmas magic.

There is nothing quite like the Christmas season in Vermont. In fact, we just saw the nearby Woodstock was listed by as the most Christmassy Town in America. It's just 20 miles away from Windsor and a fun place to visit on your trip to the Inn.

Speaking of trips to the Inn. We are running a very special deal on Trubate for a night in one of our luxurious king rooms. Check it out and come spend the holidays with us at the Snapdragon Inn!

Happy last day of November!

It's time to decorate!

The Snapdragon Inn

How was your Thanksgiving holiday? We had an Inn full of the best guests all weekend!

As we write this, the Inn is being holiday-ified! We have a quick window before our next check-ins and are trying to get everything up and looking lovely. Luckily, we did so much crafting last year that this year it is mostly set up and final touches here and there. It is amazing how long Christmas decorating can take. Look out for pictures later this week.

Also, due to busy holiday schedules, we are going to move this week's Literary Club Meeting all the way through the holidays until January 26th. So if you weren't going to have time to read "Suite Francaise" you have 2 full months to do so. We have had an amazing and very successful year together so see you next year!

How is it possible that it will be December in 2 more days?!

Halloween & First snow

The Snapdragon Inn

Earth and Ice

Ocean Wave and Wind

How's your Halloween prep going? Will you be working on some last minute costumes over the weekend? If you are looking for ideas that are fun and not too ambitious, there are heaps of ideas here. These ones above are particularly creative and just involve some makeup and hair pizazz.

Also, Last night at October's Literary club we discussed, "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" by Lisa See. A fascinating and harrowing novel for sure. We will announce the next book on Monday.

Speaking of snow, it just so happens that we also had our first snow fall of the season last night. There are mixed feelings about the early end to Autumn and the beginning of our frigid season but the buzz of Halloween is in the air and we won't let a little cold and snow stop us from celebrating with our little snappers. We thought this picture taken by our friend and local Windsorite, Kerry, was appropriate for the season. A little bit of snow and a little bit of Halloween. She woke up to find her pumpkin wearing a mask she said.

Enjoy your Fourth!

The Snapdragon Inn

We've had a lovely weekend thus far and today looks like it is going to be a warm one. Some are off to parades, community activities, and perhaps some fun in the pool. Whatever you are up to today, we hope you are taking some time off to be with friends and family and enjoy a moment of celebration on our Independence day!

Happy Fourth from your friends at the Snapdragon

Packing up the holidays

The Snapdragon Inn

We're packing up all the holiday decor at the Inn today and getting
the certificates ready to send out to the winners from our "12 Nights" giveaway.

It's always a let down packing up the holiday decorations? When do you pack up?
If it wasn't, it wouldn't be so special the next holiday season.

Jordan, over at Oh Happy Day, has easy but great tips for packing up the holidays.
Do you have any?

Giveaway Day 3: Trees Trees Trees

The Snapdragon Inn

There is something almost magical about decorating the tree, isn't there? This year we havethree trees at the Inn that create the most welcoming holiday feel thanks to Keighty and Chaz. How do you decorate your tree? Homemade decor or collected items? Do you go to a tree farm? Do you have any tree traditions? Tree Colored lights or white lights?

We made gingerbread, wood burned ornaments and glittered birds for some of our decorations at the Inn this year. Another family member strung pom-poms and twisted pipe cleaners for a table top tree. One tree is constantly changing as the kids move the decorations around.

More family trees!

Christmas tree, holiday tree or solstice tree, every tree is unique and lovely.

We would love to see all of your trees/decor! Visit our Snapdragon facebook page and share a picture with us for an EXTRA entry into today's giveaway!
