"Don't change-not even a little"

Chris

Summer is in full swing here at the Inn! We recently hosted a wonderful family for their reunion and then prepared Snapdragon Inn for a beautiful wedding over the weekend. We love our guests and, of course, love when we receive these wonderful notes.

Dear Snapdragon Inn,
Thank you for a lovely stay. We enjoyed our time here immensely.
Don't change-not even a little.

This review from our family reunion just came into our TripAdvisor queue.

Where do I begin?! The staff were awesome to work with in planning our family reunion. And while there the staff did a wonderful job of keeping areas clean and well stocked while staying in the background and never intruding on anyone. When we arrived, all was organized and ready for us. Our rooms were large and comfortable and well furnished. Breakfast every morning was delightful with many choices and a comfortable room in which to enjoy it.

The porch was one of the surprise highlights for our group as it is expansive and seated most in rocking chairs overlooking their beautiful large backyard. Cocktails were enjoyed on the veranda every night!

We feel very blessed to have had such a great inn for our family gathering!

This just in...

Today we were awarded the 2012 Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor. We are very excited by this recent award since it reflects what YOU think about Snapdragon Inn. Thank you to our staff-- Cindy, Christie, Jeannie, Deb, Eva and Heidi-- for being rockstars and helping keep the Inn clean and ready to greet our guests.  These were notes from Trip Advisor on how they award each year.

The accolade, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide. Approximately 10 percent of accommodations listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award. To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on TripAdvisor. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

Room 9

Here is another excellent review that came in this week. We love the bit about the bed in Room 9!
We recently stayed here to gel away from a hectic schedule and to celebrate my husband's birthday. Our stay was all we expected and more. Nate the owner made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. He was friendly, helpful, informative and funny. The Inn was beautiful and very clean and the bed in room 9 was like a giant marshmallow- SOOOO comfortable! The bathroom was spacious and clean and the L'Occitane bath products were delightful. I need to buy more! The grounds and walking path were beautiful and peaceful. We left relaxed and happy and will visit again in the Fall to experience the foliage around the property. Be sure to visit nearby Simon Pearce for the glass blowing and a lovely meal. Thank you Nate for all your hospitality!

"Best B&B we have ever stayed in!"

The Snapdragon Inn

This review just came. We love how they took delight in the details because we think they make all the difference. Thanks for this amazing review and we can't wait to see you again!

“Best B&B we have ever stayed in!”
We have stayed in many B&B's, and this is the best. Most B&B's don't exactly look as they do on the website. Don't include the Snapdragon in that description. From the beautiful exterior, well manicured grounds and walking paths, to the extremely clean room, this place exceeds all expectations. I have never gone anywhere that the customer service has been such a priority. One of the owners, Nate, took time to explain the history of the town, buildings and surrounding communities to us. His passion is obvious in the way that he takes care of the guests and the Snapdragon.
This is a perfect couples getaway. We had a couples massage that was terrific. The staff has a great balance of both humorous and professional attitude. Take time to hit the walking paths and check out the pond. We came when it was raining for several days in a row. No problem there. Several umbrellas sit at the door to borrow as you wish. This made for a very romantic walk. This place just read our mind every step of the way. We will be returning later in the season to visit the American Precision Museum and will not look further than the Snapdragon Inn. I can't wait to return.

New Review!

The Snapdragon Inn

We were very excited to read this wonderful new review on Trip Advisor! They stayed in Room 3 which has been quite popular with its soft blue hi-lites. Go here to read more reviews

The place is GORGEOUS. The room itself even more so. Beautiful restorations to a historic home. I slept like a log, as everything was so quiet and peaceful. No noisiness here.Breakfast was wonderful, yummy and healthful. My friend who was pacing me was also invited to attend our morning breakfast, she joined our little trip at the last minute and wasn't able to book a hotel so stayed at a nearby campsite. It was so nice of them to let her stay, and it was a wonderful close to our amazing weekend away. Wonderful stay, and I really hope to be back again. :)

Rainy rainy days

The Snapdragon Inn

On these rainy rainy days, it's hard not to want to wrap up in one of our soft bathrobes, curl into a feather bed, and watch movies or read all day long. What do you  like to do on rainy days?

Thanks to our weekend guest for this lovely review on TripAdvisor!
The folks at the Snapdragon Inn got it right. The inn has a comfortable, contemporary vibe even as it references its considerable history (former home of Maxwell Perkins, literary editor of Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Wolfe). The rooms are comfortable with nice touches (fluffy down comforters, maple sugar candies, heavy white bathrobes hanging in the clean, airy bathrooms). Continental breakfasts include good coffee, Greek yogurt, granola, great breads, and heaps of fresh fruit, among other options. Rocking chairs beckon on the large back porch, and there's plenty of great reading material (plus flat screen TVs in every room, if that's more your style). Definitely worth a return visit.

Guest Perspective: Room 6

The Snapdragon Inn

Room 6 bed details
A wonderful surprise stands in the midst of the beautiful and quaint village of Windsor, Vermont. We found the lovely Snapdragon Inn on google.maps and I am so glad we did. The Inn surpassed our expectations - the structure, the woodwork, flooring, rooms, ambience, the price - all combined to give the feeling of casual elegance. We had Room 6 King which was so tastefully furnished and decorated and created a very serene "home away from home". The bath towels were the fluffiest I have ever experienced, every detail of the inn, down to the photographs on the wall taken by one of the owners, were a special treat...Read on here.

Before: Room 6 Headboard

Just for fun. We found these before shots of the headboard that we painted and upholstered last summer before opening when we worked like maniacs!

April Fools on us!

The Snapdragon Inn

Snow on April 1st! This is enough prank for everyone, although I can't say we are surprised since we live in Vermont and must expect these sorts of events. It is just kind of sad when they actually occur. Luckily, it's warm outside (well 35) and it won't be sticking around very long.

On couple of more positive items for today.

First, we had a wonderful Literary Club meeting last night and came up with lots of insights and questions to ask Dr. Verghese next week when he calls into our club to discuss his book. We also chose our book for our April 28th meeting. We will be reading "The Swan Thieves" by Elizabeth Kostova which sounds like it will be an interesting contrast to "Cutting for Stone". You can join the group here.

And finally, do you have an anniversary coming up with your special someone? If so, couples love the quiet, relaxation, and convenience of the Inn. Check out our newest review on TripAdvisor. They stayed in Room 6.
The rooms were luxurious; from the comfortable beds, high end linens and a heated bathroom floor it seems that not a detail was missed. I can’t wait for our next anniversary to come back!
Thank you for the wonderful review! We love the opportunity to create w lovely and relaxing experience at the Snapdragon Inn. See you next year.

Enjoy your weekend! We will be thinking sun!

New Reviews!

The Snapdragon Inn

Our stay at Snapdragon Inn was just what we needed to get away from the stress of life and this Boston winter. From the moment out hosts met us at the door and we saw the roaring wood burning stove we started to unwind. Everything from there got even better, from the clean and spacious room with the exellent heated bathroom floor to the to Inn keepers warmth and hospitality. The simplistic and elegant decorations showed much thought and style. The location could not have been bettter with walking distance to down town and a short driving distance to everything Vermont has to offer. We will see you again Steve, Chaz and family next trip :)
This place is truly wonderful. As a frequent traveler, it's rare to have this kind of experience. Immaculate. Wonderfully decorated. Extremely knowledgeable and warm staff. And best of all, as the former home of Max Perkins (famous Scribner editor credited to nurturing the careers of Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald among others), there's a terrific creative energy about the place. Five stars.

Top 5 places I've ever stayed. One of the most relaxing, comfortable stays of my life. As the lone occupant, I felt unworthy of the luxury of the room. But the most important thing was the attitude of the owner... instantly felt like a friend. I've found myself trying to design excuses to revisit Windsor.

We had a string of new reviews posted to Trip Advisor from our February visits. We would like to take a moment to thank our wonderful Innkeepers for making every guest experience so positive and we'd also like to thank all of the fabulous guests who have stayed with us! We can't wait to see you again.

Happy Monday. May this be a great week for all of you!

Some random thoughts for a wet Saturday

The Snapdragon Inn

"Snapdragon snow yoga. Sunday AM Windsor, VT"

Hello Saturday!
We started the week out so well with that wonderful clip of Chris' performance and then nothing but we've been busy as bees working on all kinds of exciting projects. Here are some shares for your weekend to try and make up for our absence during the week.

One of our guests took the above picture during his stay this week. Quite a groovy little self portrait in Room 1.

Don't forget our next Literary club meeting is set for March 31st, 7 PM and we will be reading, "Cutting for Stone" by Abraham Verghese. You can join the group here or get more information.

Some new reviews are up on TripAdvisor.

On a more serious note:
As many of you know, one of our family members is from Christchurch, New Zealand and his family and friends have been deeply affected by the earthquake that struck the city on February 22nd. His mum was in the centre city during the quake and was recently interviewed by the Canadian radio show, "As it Happens". You can hear her experience here (her portion starts about 16:15 of Part One) The city continues to shake, with a 4.3 aftershock rumbling the earth just last night. It has been a significantly traumatic experience for the people of Christchurch and we have them in our thoughts.

Room 1: Guest Perspective

The Snapdragon Inn

A guest recently posted this wonderful review on trip advisor. He was traveling the east coast with a friend and they were only in our area for the night so we gave them Rooms 1 & Room 2(check out before & after shots) as they share an alcove but each with their own bathroom of course. It's the perfect set up for more guests so you can go back and forth to rooms without going into the hall. They were traveling from London and couldn't stop talking about how quiet it felt. We certainly forget what a luxury that can be.

"The bed in my room had what was quite possibly the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on, and it was so nice to get away from the roar and bustle of a big city."

Do you need a rest from the noise? We have a special Wassail offer running through Sunday and stay tuned for more holiday specials. Give us a call, we'd love to find a room just right for you!
