What a fascinating book we are reading for this month's Literary Club (thanks for the pick Megan)! The incredible detail and intricate plot is mind-boggling and thrilling to read. We can't quite wrap our heads around the scale of the World's Fair that took place in Chicago in 1893 (aka World's Columbian Exposition) that is the backdrop for, "The Devil in the White City" by Erik Larson. It is so incredibly well researched that it is hard to know what is fact and fiction. The fair filled over one square mile with over 200 buildings not to mention the first Ferris Wheel. In only 6 months, there was a recorded 27.5 million visitors when the country's population was only 65 million. Then you add a serial killer on top of all that--quite the book!
Anyway, we can't wait to discuss it on Thursday, the 29th at 7:30PM here at the Snapdragon. All are welcome!
