The Snapdragon Inn

There have been several holidays the past few days (Gandhi's birthday) as well as the beginning of a Hindu Festival called Nevrati and Eid for Muslims so we haven't been able to get much work done as we are waiting on fabrics both purchased and printed to arrive at the factory. They should be arriving in the next day or two and then it will be crunch time to piece everything together and see what we've got eh?

It has been an incredibly insightful experience and I think I have had to hone some mad skeels (fast decision making, number crunching, pressure decisions, plain old acting) that were a little lax (or non existent) in order to appear like a real buyer AND try to put together a cohesive look for our inn. If only I had another 6 weeks and a whole lot of available cash; oh what we could do.... some other time.

Monday, we headed out to meet with a contact of D's who had some beautiful solids in cotton satins, linens, etc etc and I was able to source the curtain fabrics. Again, I am sooooo glad I had the Design Bible and had all that information because right there, right then I had to decide, calculate, and make sure I got enough all off swatches because the price was right...oh very right.
The typical perspective from my trip. D on my left and Design Bible on the table.

It was sort of like a fabric swatch pandemonium as we picked through and said, "21 meters of that" and "14 meters of that" so I really hope I got it right. Oh well if I didn't, we will have something. After we looked at the solids, he took us down to his little warehouse and I picked up some very cool patterns. This place was down a dusty path, in an unmarked building with piles and piles of fabric wrapped up burlap bags like it was a fabric grave yard but fabrics that shouldn't be dead yet. Most of it will be sold to the local markets; I wanted to buy it all.

Finalizing the details with Mr. I have inredible fabrics getting dusty in my warehouse.

I revisted Fab India which is a totally fantastic place that we had been to last year but I took a closer look at their home furnishings department and collected swatches for the remaining things we need to re-upholster and will return to get that. Absolutely fantastic solids and very very cool heavy weight cottons and silks (see below some I am thinking for the Inn). Absolutely! Yum, Yum. I know where I am going to get everything to decorate my currently torn apart house...one day. Just check out the colors from their clothing...even though the picture I took in the store is blurry, it still is gorgeous!

So enough talk. Hopefully I can get a post up in the next couple of days once all the fabrics come together. I am excited and anxious to piece together everything I have seen and done so far. I think we are going to have very unique rooms once this all gets done-- i hope.
