Customizing our Design!

The Snapdragon Inn

One of the first conversations about the Inn, during its inception, centered around the creation of custom fabrics for each of the rooms. I dream of designing custom prints/textiles and this opportunity seemed to good to be true. I don't know much about HOW or WHAT I am doing but with the help of our super sweet garment designing/manufacturing friends of Tilak Exports in India,Mani and Deepa, it looks like a whole world of customization is opening up before us.

I have spent some time these past months communicating back and forth with our friends about prices, processes, and options. We won't be able to have ALL custom fabrics but we will have a selection that will be found in each of the rooms as a feature fabric as well as our logo embroidered (a first round mock up pictured above) on everything we can get it on.
We are thinking of starting with a fabric that uses our snapdragon icon in some way. Here are just a few of my ideas, quit literally using parts of the logo in different ways. Mom gave me the idea to use it in such a way that it creates a sort of stripe. I think there are some cool things we can do with it for sure.
We are working on finalizing the designs so that I can send them off to Deepa and she can begin the process of getting screens done so that when I go out in September (I know, it isn't fair but someone has to go ;)) I can approve the artwork, source other fabrics to go with the ones we are getting made and learn heaps and heaps about the whole process of printing and weaving for my future work in this area. I am sure there will be much to share as this journey takes off!
